Some of my designs feature yarns and fabrics dyed by Jewellace.

Colours are produced by natural and acid dyes.

Natural colours from safflower, cochineal and a selection of  plants and spices.

Results are variable, depending on the freshness of the dye stuff and the time of year.

Acid dyes were developed during the 19th century to create more consistent colours when mass produced fabrics and threads were demanded.

Synthetic dyes are ideal, if a definite colour is needed, but I still like to experiment with different types of fibre and natural dyestuffs and use the best dye source for the job in hand.
